Giving It Up with Amber Lin

Thanks so much to W. Lynn Chantale for having me today! Today we’re interviewing, Allie, the heroine of my debut erotic romance, Giving It Up. Let’s see what she has to say…
What’s your favorite color?
Blue… no, green! Just kidding ;-) I’d probably have to say orange. It reminds me of sunrise, and sometimes we all need fresh start.
What type of vehicle do you drive?
A broken down sedan. Hey, it may break down every ten thousand miles, but it works so hard! Unfortunately, Colin insists we have to get rid of it now. He wants to buy me something new. Even though I know we can afford it, it’s hard to let go of this piece of my past. But I always worry about getting stranded somewhere with my daughter, Bailey, so I’ll go ahead and do it anyway.
Describe yourself to me.
Oh man. You don’t want to know! I’m only half kidding. The truth is I’m pretty messed up, but I’m probably giving myself more credit than I deserve. I’m not that interesting. Average looks—girl next door kind of stuff. But they seem to work for Colin, so I’m certainly not complaining. If there was one defining characteristic of me… I’d say that I try. I don’t succeed, mind you, when it comes to being a good mother or pleasing Colin, but those things are important enough to work at.
How would your mate describe you?
Colin’s not much of a talker. Maybe now he’d say I was his fiancĂ©… because I am ;-) I suppose if we were to pin him down, he might admit that I’m pretty or strong or something like that. Something he thinks I would want him to say, because he’s always trying to please me. Even when he’s all gruff and scowling, he always notices ways to make my life better or easier.

What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?
My daughter. She is the very best part of me, and the fact that she was conceived on the worst night of my life, in such an awful way… it forced me to deal with it differently. I loved that she was here, so how could I hate the act that brought her to me? God, no wonder I was so damn conflicted…
What's the one thing you have always wanted to do but couldn't? What would happen if you did do it?
I suppose I’ve dreamed about picking up and leaving. Leaving behind this city, but of course I’d always take Bailey with me and that gets tricky. And I do have some wonderful people here: Shelly, my best friend, and now Colin. It’s not something I really want, it’s more like a longing to be free of the weight. Luckily Colin is with me now, and he bears some of it for me.
Describe your ideal mate.
Ah, sigh. Do I have to say it? Colin, for sure. He’s patient, possessive and so damn good with his tongue ;-)
What are you most afraid of?
That I will wake up and my time with Colin will just have been a dream. That I’ll still be trolling that dirty night club, looking for a one-night stand, searching for an answer to a question I don’t fully understand. It was a painful and confusing time for me—I wouldn’t want to go back, especially now that I know what can be.
What's the most important thing in your life?
My family. It’s not really about blood ties for me. Our actions form our bonds. Shelly has helped me for so long, I’d do anything for her. Colin and I grow closer every day. And Bailey really is a part of me—my heart.
What do you consider your special talent?
Christ, am I allowed to say blowjobs? And honestly I’m not sure that would count considering I learned most of my tricks from Shelly. Nevermind, I’m claiming it. That’s my superpower. Blowjobs that make Colin go crazy.
How did you meet the hero?
Remember that dirty club I mentioned? Yeah, he was there. I thought he looked so mean and rough… exactly what I wanted at the time. And in some ways I was right, but in the important ways I was all wrong. Colin was kind and gentle, and exactly what I needed.
Was it love at first sight or did it develop slowly?
Definitely not! I’m not even sure you could say it was lust at first sight. Even now that I’m wholly in love with him, I can still feel it unfurling within me. Every day I know him a little better, love him a little more. Every day I learn his body a little better, and lust after a little more. I hope it never stops.

What did you like/dislike about him/her when you first met?
Well, I kept insisting he would give it to me rough and he wouldn’t! This was frustrating, because I knew he could. He certainly had the muscles for it, but he insisted on being gentle. He knew what I needed, even when I didn’t.
If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
Happiness for Bailey, Colin and Shelly. That may sound selfless, but I assure you it’s not. If those three people were happy, I absolutely would be as well!
Allie prowls the club for a man who will use her hard and then ditch her. Hey, it’s not rape if she wants it. Instead she finds Colin, who looks tough but treats her tenderly, despite her protests.
He tempts her, but kindness and a few mindblowing orgasms aren’t enough to put her back together again. Allie has no hope for a real relationship. Two years ago her best friend betrayed her in the worst possible way – she’d be stupid to trust a man again. Besides, she has her daughter to think of, the only good thing to have come from that dark night.
But when her rapist returns, threatening her sanity and custody of her daughter, Allie turns to Colin. Under his protection and patient touch, Allie begins to heal and learns to hope. Colin’s no saint, though, and his criminal past draws danger of its own. Allie must fight to protect her child and the man she loves, hoping her newfound power will be enough to save them all.

“A ballsy departure from romantic conventions. At once gritty and tender, stark and hopeful.”

“This is a book you MUST read if you like gritty, edgier romance that makes you think as well as turns you on.”

Ruthie Knox, author of About Last Night
“Dark and edgy…but don’t be fooled. There’s a wonderful love story running through this book. Sharp, intense writing, sexy as hell, and such a cool idea!”
Charlotte Stein, author of Sheltered
EXCERPT
We stripped at the same time, both eager. I wanted to see his body, to witness what he offered me, but it was dark in the room. Then he kissed me back onto the bed, and there was no more time to wonder. The cheap bedspread was rough and cool against my skin. His hands stroked over my breasts and then played gently with my nipples.
My body responded, turning liquid, but something was wrong.
I’d had this problem before. Not everyone wanted to play rough, but I was surprised that I’d misread him. His muscles were hard, the pads of his fingers were calloused. I didn’t know how he could touch me so softly. Everything about him screamed that he could hurt me, so why didn’t he?
I wanted him to have his nasty way with me, but every sweet caress destroyed the illusion. My fantasy was to let him do whatever he wanted with me, but not this.
“Harder,” I said. “I need it harder.”
Instead his hands gentled. The one that had been holding my breast traced the curve around and under.
I groaned in frustration. “What’s wrong?”
He reached down, still breathing heavily, and pressed a finger lightly to my cunt, then stroked upward through the moisture. I gasped, rocking my hips to follow his finger.
“You like this,” he said.
Yes, I liked it. I was undeniably aroused but too aware. I needed the emptiness of being taken. “I like it better rough.”
Colin frowned. My eyes widened at the ferocity of his expression.
In one smooth motion he flipped me onto my stomach. I lost my breath from the surprise and impact. His left hand slid under my body between my legs and cupped me. His right hand fisted in my hair, pulling my head back. His erection throbbed beside my ass in promise. I wanted to beg him to fuck me, but all I could do was gasp. He didn’t need to be told, though, and ground against me, using my hair as a handle.
That small pain on my scalp was perfection, sharp and sweet. Numbness spread through me, as did relief.
The pain dimmed. My arousal did too, but that was okay. I was only vaguely aware of him continuing to work my body from behind.
I went somewhere else in my mind. I’d stay that way all night.
At least that’s what usually happened.

Horror, Romance and a Sexy Scene

I’d like to thank, W.Lynn Chantale for having me on her site and allowing me to share my thoughts.  I put a piece of myself in every book, and each one has been special for different reasons. This book, however, has me as proud as a parent at the end of their child’s first day of school. It combines two of my favorite genres, horror and romance, and it really pushed me outside of my comfort zone in so many ways! It’s the longest story I’ve written to date, and is filled with tiny clues that come together to create one giant puzzle in the end.
When my hero, Oliver showed up one night, heartbroken and ready to throw in the towel, I knew I had to do something about it.  I say showed up because often that’s how my stories begin. A character appears and starts yaking in my ear until I put the pen to paper and they’re satisfied.  Oliver was easy, he was enamored with, Juni from the moment he saw her in chapter one. It was the other forces at work that made things difficult.  I hadn’t planned on making this a paranormal romance, so this goes to show you the power of the muse and her minions, aka characters. ;) I hope you enjoy the exciting journey I’ve taken them on, and adore Oliver and Juni as much as I do.
Here’s a taste of What the Heart Knows
Juniper was amazed at the reverence Oliver paid her scar. It was as if he was determined to heal her from the outside in. When the shirt cleared her head she reached down to bury her fingers in his silken hair and arched her back to allow him more access.  He reached around to unhook her bra like a pro and she trembled as he laid her down across the couch.
“I want to taste you, Juni.”  His words were gruff, and she felt her face heat as she propped up on her elbows to glance down at him.
“No one’s ever done that before,” she said.
“They didn’t know what they were missing.”
“Actually, I think they were terrified of giving me a heart attack.”
His eyed filled with understanding as he unbuttoned her pants.
“Makes it easier for me to spoil you for any other man. Now be a good girl and lift your hips.”
Her heart thudded in her ears as she watched him peel off her pants and move between her legs. He reminded her of a panther. His body was lithe and toned and his movements were full of purpose. She felt stalked. He glanced up and pierced her with those jade green eyes and she was incapable of looking away as he lowered his face to her sky blue boy shorts. He purred as he inhaled deeply.
“You smell good, Juniper.” He traced down the seam of her lips and pulled her damp underwear between the lips of her pussy. “You’re so wet; you soaked through your panties.”   She cried out at the friction he created as he rubbed them against her sensitive clit.
“That’s it, baby, drip for me.”  Her hips moved with the rhythm he created as her tiny nub became engorged with blood. She gave a whimper of protest when he pulled away only to cry out when he eased a finger inside her.
“You’re so tight.”  He removed his finger and lifted it to his lips. “Mhmm, and sweet.”  He eased the slender digit back inside her and pulled out again. “Have you ever tasted yourself?”
“No,” she said. Her voice was barely above a whisper in the silent room. “Then you have to try it.”  He offered her the glistening finger and she twirled her tongue around it. It wasn’t bad, salty and rich with a hint of musk.
“Fuck, who knew you were such a dirty girl?”
“I did say I wanted to experience everything I never got to before.”
“You will.”
His words were a vow as he undid the bows on either side of her hips, and removed her sky blue boy shorts, which had become a torture device. He spread her wide and licked a path that made her cry out as she bucked.
“That’s it. I want to hear how much you’re enjoying it.” He pulled back to place a kiss on her neatly trimmed bush.
“I can tell you’ll need to be restrained.”
His arm was a dead weight as he came up to hold her hips in place. His stiff tongue plunged deep as his nose stimulated her clitoris. Juniper’s world narrowed to the swirls, thrusts, and flicks he skillfully applied. Her hands came up to grip the arm of the couch and she clamped her thighs around him as tremors came over her body. A searing heat burned its way through her body as she found her release.
“Oliver!”
His name flew from her lips as she ground her pussy into his face and rode out the most explosive orgasm she’d ever experienced. He continued to lick her slit as her breathing evened and her eyes refocused.
“I want to be inside you, Juniper. I want to feel those wet walls around me.”  He peered up at her from beneath long blond lashes. “Do you want that?”
“God, yes.”
“Not here.” He moved away and held out hand to help her off the couch. “When I make love to you for the first time it’s going to be in my own bed.”
“And that’s what we’re going to do?” she asked.  Her eyes narrowed as she studied his face carefully. They’d never really spoken in depth about their emotions.
“Would you rather I fuck you?”  The crude word made her eyes shine with lust.
“I’d rather you do both. You did promise me everything on my list.”
He growled low in his throat, wrapped an arm around her hips, and pulled her body flush against his.
“Don’t tempt me, Juniper. You’ll find yourself ass up in my bed, begging for mercy.”
The words made her lick her suddenly dry lips. The thought of him pounding into her from behind while she held on to the bed for dear life made her pussy flutter. This was what she’d been dreaming about since that night up against the wall at Cupa.
“Interesting, I think you might like that,” he said.
She met his gaze and nodded, unable to break the intense connection as one his hands stroked up her back.
His warm hand cupped the back of her neck and he pulled her closer. She melted against him as he walked backwards, never breaking their lip lock.  She was a quivering mass of need by the time they reached the bedroom.  When her knees hit the edge of the bed, she allowed herself to fall back. She propped up on her elbows, tense as she anticipated his next move. She watched the fingers that had brought her so much pleasure just moments before unbutton his jeans and lower his zipper. She sat up and licked her lips as his cock sprang free. He was thick, about eight inches long, with a prominent vein that ran down the side. Pre-cum leaked from the swollen red tip.
“Can I taste you?” she asked. Her gaze fixed on the milky white drop that threatened to fall.
“You can do whatever you want to me.”
She bent down and licked the pearl-colored liquid. It was brackish with a hint of musk that belonged to Oliver. Her tongue darted out to explore his slit and cum flowed freely.
“God, Juni.”
She moaned when his hips bucked, and he buried his fingers in her hair, pulling her closer. Her throat relaxed as she licked, sucked and stroked him to a trembling mess of man. The control he’d relinquished was heady and she found herself approaching her own climax right along with him.
“Stop, baby, stop!”
He pulled free and she frowned, licking her lips. “I wasn’t done.”
“Unless you want me to come, you are.”
His hands were gentle as he pushed her back onto the bed. Oliver followed suit once he’d kicked his pants and boxers away.  He eased two fingers inside her and stirred. Her hands fisted into the bed sheets as she sought more friction.
“You’re ready for me, aren’t you?”
“Yes. Do you have a condom?”
“I bought some, especially for you.”  He leaned over her body and opened the top drawer of the nightstand beside the bed.  He tore the top off the silver square with ease, and rolled it down his shaft before he settled in between her legs. He teased her with his thick head, easing in and out until she was desperate for real penetration.

Maiden Behind the Mask-Character Interview with Ricardo

What’s your favorite color?
Black, like my cape, which my ungrateful wife has stolen!
What type of vehicle do you drive?
Que? I have a stallion!
Describe yourself to me.
Muy guapo. Can't you see? I am handsome, in my twenties, dark hair and eyes, and I have a debonair mustache.
How would your mate describe you?
I believe she used the word Inmenso to describe a part of me… Can you guess which part? Would you like to see, mi amor? You can look, but not touch. Mi corazon is only for my wife.
What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?
My wife. Her heart is big, her soul is brave. I love that she wants to help others, even at the risk to herself.
What's the one thing you want to do? What would happen if you could do it?
Well, I would like to see my wife with that cantina senorita again…a replay of sorts, but I fear my wife would not be so…susceptible to the idea. I prefer not to discuss the potential ramifications of that.
Describe your ideal mate.
Fiery, but not so fiery that she usurps me. She must know when to yield. I wear the pants…most of the time!
What are you most afraid of?
I will not ride behind La Reina. Her problema frightens me. It's unnatural.
What's the most important thing in your life?

Mi familia, of course.
What do you consider your special talent?
I am good with my sword…both of them.
How did you meet the hero/heroine?
I saved Catalina from a man trying to violate her!
Was it love at first sight or did it develop slowly?
Eh, slowly. I was more in love with her dowry.
I confess, I was not enamored with her at first. I thought she was a…how do you Americans say it?...flighty female. No fire.
What did you dislike about her when you first met?
She allowed people to assume I had compromised her honor!
If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
  1. I want my cape back.
  2. I want a strong and strapping son, though a little Hermana is good too, especially if it looks like her mother.
  3. A solution to La Reina's problema. As I said above, it is not natural! I know not how my wife puts up with it. Perhaps, a cork? Do you have a cork? Si, I want a good-sized cork.
When Catalina Rodriguez is attacked by a would-be rapist and rescued by the dashing Ricardo Garcia, she not only becomes more aware of the handsome man, but also vows that she'll never be a damsel in distress again. Using the timeless method of blackmail, she convinces her uncle to teach her to fight and becomes a masked crusader in the night, saving damsels from robbers and rough handling.
But scandalous rumors and dwindling funds force Ricardo and Catalina to marry.  Not immune to each other's charms, their marriage starts fiery, but when one of Catalina's nightly escapades results in dire consequences, she is forced to spurn her husband's amorous advances…or reveal a secret that could turn him away from her forever.
Ricardo is not a man to be cuckolded or left in the dark. Is his wife having an affair with El Capitan, the masked savior? If so…they will both pay.
Tara Chevrestt is a deaf woman, a dog mom, a reader, and a motorcycle and airplane buff. She worked as an aircraft mechanic for eleven years before turning to a career in writing. When not chasing her dogs around the house (or writing about them!), she battles over her laptop keyboard with her alter ego, Sonia Hightower.
Tara never knows what a story is going to turn out to be. Whereas Tara writes historical or contemporary romance, humor, young adult, and even a memoir, Sonia pens erotic noir or bdsm. Be it a Tara or a Sonia book, you're sure to find something that interests you.
Excerpt:
She tore her gaze away from the horse and said firmly. "Cinco pesos. And only because this caballa has fire, not because of your terms. Selena, pay him."
Selena's hand shook, but the pesos were transferred to the dirty palm. The man laughed with glee, the crowd dispersed, and Catalina was left with a dirty, starving horse.
"We'll get you fed and cleaned up," she promised the horse, patting its neck. A cloud of dirt rose in the air, and Catalina struggled not to cough. "I shall call you La Reina, because once in my establo, I shall treat you like a queen. Your body may be beaten, but your spirit is not broke."
"Catalina?" Her maid's voice tentative as it interrupted her quiet chattering. "Whatever possessed you—"
"Fetch me a mozo," Catalina interrupted her. "Take the remaining pesos and fetch me a groom. La Reina is going to her castle." She wasn't offering more explanations than that. She didn't owe anyone an explanation. She'd done what was right.
As her maid turned to comply, heading toward the livery, a loud pffffht rendered the air. Catalina stared at the mare in surprise, aghast.
Selena froze and swung around to admonish her charge. "Senorita! Your behavior has been questionable enough this day. Mind yourself." She shook her head and her finger both before turning back the task at hand.
Catalina heard her muttering as she sashayed away. She was too surprised and too tired to defend herself, but the breeze picked up, and a waft of foul air assaulted her. Catalina immediately tugged a delicate, lace handkerchief from her sleeve and placed it over her nose as she glared at the horse.
La Reina snorted and pawed the ground. Catalina could swear the horse was laughing at her. She merely shook her head. "Dios mio, and you let me take the blame for that?"
Pffffhht. Pfffht.
La Reina whinnied and bared her teeth as though she was smiling.

Experience or Imagination? with Ella Jade

Hi! My name is Ella Jade and I'm thrilled to be here today.  I want to thank W. Lynn Chantale for having me.
When I tell friends, family or people who ask what I do for a living that I'm an author of erotic fiction they often seem surprised. They're always like, "Really? You write what?" The biggest question I'm asked about my chosen profession is…
Do I write from personal experience?
I'd love to say YES! My sex life is just as hot as the pages in my books. Lol I'm not saying I'm a prude or my husband is lacking anything. But I will say, I just don't have that much time in my life for that much research.
I'm a stay-at-home mom most days, a full-time writer, V.P. of the PTO and I substitute teach a few times a month. I'm a busy girl, so when it comes time to write those steamy scenes I rely heavily on my imagination. Several of my books contain BDSM themes but I don't participate in that lifestyle so I have no firsthand knowledge. I do as much research as I can but when it comes time for me to develop characters and set up the plot I just write what I define as sexy or appropriate for that particular scene. I want to stimulate the reader and have them get lost in my words. When I'm writing, I want to forget about reality for a few hours and indulge in fantasy.
Obviously, romance plays a huge part in all of my books. I like to create strapping, sexy and dominant heroes but they also have to be flawed. Character growth and redemption are always present in my novels. A good friend once told me, "Not everyone is all good, or all bad." I use those words to develop strong characters that can grow, accept change and be emotionally invested in their partners. Once I develop my characters and establish their emotional connection the rest is easy and steamy and sexy and erotic…
At the end of the day, I guess I can say I write from personal experience. Maybe not in the way most think an erotic author should, but experience none the less. I observe life, people, emotions, relationships and love. And maybe on occasion I might say to my husband, "Wanna try chapter three tonight?" ;)
***
My newest release is a BDSM romance and is available now with Beachwalk Press. Make Me Stay is a story of rekindled love and finding a way to make it work. Here’s the blurb…
Can the sub teach the Dom to play?
Natural submissive Gracie Miller thought she had found her other half in Cade Jameson. Not only did he help her through a difficult time in her life, in the bedroom he brought her more pleasure than she could have ever imagined. They seemed perfect for each other.
Cade knew what he wanted in the bedroom. Gracie brought out his domineering side and ignited his passion. But he feared he was too dominant for this beautiful, naĂŻve girl, who was so young and impressionable, so he ended their relationship.
Two and a half years later, Gracie returns to town a new woman. She had moved to the city and found a "Master" who showed her what she was truly capable of. Now she's back and wants to show Cade exactly what kind of submissive she could be for him.
But after hearing all that she's experienced, Cade now wonders if he's dominant enough to satisfy her. Can he be the man Gracie needs him to be?
Content Warning: graphic sex, BDSM themes

A Gift of the Darkest Magic by Ashlynn Monroe

I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to visit your blog today.  I just want to start out this post by saying that I adore this book.  Someone recently told me I’m prolific and they made me chuckle.  I replied by telling them, “I like to keep busy”. They were right.  I’ve written over 50 short stories, novellas, and novels since 2010.  While I hope all my works are great, some hold a higher place in my heart.  This story is special.
I played around with it in my head for some time before putting on paper.  I’ve always been a daydreamer.  I’ve been a daydreamer ever since I was a really little girl.  Imagination has been my life raft.  I’ve had some difficult experiences in my life and the only thing I’ve been able to count on is my ability to escape with a story. Now that I’m a published author, I don’t daydream as much because I write every evening.  If I don’t get the opportunity to write, I actually feel a little ill now.  It’s become such a routine part of who I am that I can’t imagine life without writing.  I’d write even if no one ever wanted to publish me again (let’s hope that day never arrives!).  Occasionally I do hold onto a daydream—or story.  Some tales are so vivid and complex that I don’t want to share.  These stories I hoard in my brain for a long time—working and reworking until it’s so perfect I have to put it on paper.
A Gift of the Darkest Magic is one of those tales.  It’s a story about darkness and forgiveness.  I loved writing it and I hope you’ll love reading it too.
Here’s the blurb:
Would you be willing to betray the person you love in order to save their life?
Clarissa's husband Matt is dying of cancer. They've tried everything that medicine has to offer, both traditional and experimental, and nothing's worked. Clarissa spends her days in the hospital, watching the man she loves slip closer and closer to certain death.
When her sister tells her she knows a way to save Matt, but it involves visiting a local club run by vampires, Clarissa is outraged that her sister would believe something so insane. But then she learns the truth.
Braden, the sexy and mysterious vampire who runs the club, does indeed have the means to save Matt, but he demands a high payment in return. He doesn't want money, her blood, or even her life…he wants something she never expected. Clarissa has a choice—spend twenty-four hours in Braden's bed or let her husband die.
But what she never foresaw was how much more the vampire would truly want after he'd given her the gift of the darkest magic.
Excerpt:
The quiet drip of the IV and the occasional bleep of the monitor were the only sounds in the dim hospital room. Clarissa Blair held the cold hand of her husband, Matthew. Matt's diagnosis of cancer, just after Christmas, had been a horrible surprise. His condition rapidly deteriorated. The vibrant forty-year-old lay reduced to a thin husk, wasting away in the small room on the fourth floor of Mercy General Hospital. Clarissa could only wait and mourn quietly. She'd tried to hide her pain and stay positive for Matt, but it was getting harder to pretend as he slipped closer to the end of his life.
Their twin seven-year-old daughters spent a lot of time with her mother. She didn't want them to remember their father as the corpse she saw each day when she came to the hospital after work. Her life was a cycle of working and grieving. She knew the girls missed her, but she just didn't have the strength to be there for them and keep up with the day-to-day battle of holding herself together. Matt was leaving them.
The sound of the door opening roused her from the dark, sad thoughts. She stood up and hugged the visitor. "Hi, sis."
Caren, her younger sister, breezed into the room smelling of sunshine and fresh air, in contrast to the stale stench of death she'd come to associate with her husband's hospital room. "How is he today?"
Her sister's sadness only added to the weight in Clarissa's heart. "About the same. The nurse said last night was tough, but he pulled through. He's a strong fighter." She knew the last words sounded bitter. He was the strongest man she'd ever known; she couldn't understand why he couldn't beat the disease ravaging him. His once handsome face was pale and sunken. Her Matt had left long ago, leaving the dying man in his place. Her Matt would never have abandoned her and their daughters as this man was doing.
For a long moment, Caren looked into her face. She knew Caren wanted to say something, but was holding back.
"Go ahead and say what's on your mind. You're always so afraid of saying something that'll make me cry. I'm past that stage now. Just talk, you're irritating me." She knew her shrill statement bordered on cruel, but she didn't care. What was the use of pleasantries when her whole life was over and she'd never be happy again?
"Sorry, sweetie," Caren whispered, laying a gentle hand on Clarissa's shoulder.
The simple act of kindness tore at her soul, making her want to lash out again. She shrugged off her sister's caring touch. The unwavering love in the deep turquoise eyes, the same shade as her own, sent a little stab of guilt through Clarissa. "I'm the one who should be sorry, but seriously just tell me what's on your mind."
Caren gave her a weak smile. "You know I love Matt too."
Clarissa nodded. Matt had no siblings. She'd married him when Caren was still in high school and he'd taken to her sister as if she were his own. "I know." She sighed.
"I think I know a way to save him, but I need your help," Caren whispered.
Clarissa's eyes narrowed. Her whole body began shaking. "How dare you!" She hissed at her beloved younger sister.
"Really. I mean it, Clarissa. I think I know a way that we can save Matt's life." She said the words with genuine hope.
"We've tried faith healers, herbs, expensive specialists, what more can there be? I can't believe you'd spout such bullshit. Especially when he's so close to…" She couldn't say "the end", but it was true. Her husband only had a few more weeks to live, maybe less. The doctors had made it perfectly clear. It was time to give up hope. She'd already picked out his casket and bought the plot. Matt was gone.
"I'm not pulling your leg, or giving you false hope. I saw it work!"

I needed a hanky and a hug

To Honor by D.F. Krieger (The Review)
Who knew two little words would have such a strong impact on me. I was warned that I may need a tissue or two. If you’re looking for something sweet and sassy...well this ain’t it, but if you want to sink you teeth into a gut-wrenching romance then settle in and enjoy the ride.
I normally don’t get caught in the cover craze, but the emotional from this one really caught my attention. Her pain is nearly palpable.
From the first sentence to the last I wanted to be angry with the hero, Derek. I tried, but the way Ms. Krieger has written him, he’s so contrite, so remorseful of his actions it’s hard to maintain any anger at him. If anything I felt sorry for him.
And, Evelyn. Evelyn took me on a journey of emotions I’d forgotten. She’s a woman who has suffered many tragedies and is only hanging onto life by a thin thread. The only thing keeping her on her day to day path is her husband’s love. When that’s taken away from her, that thread breaks and she does the only thing possible, she chooses to die.
I don’t want to give away too much so I’ll stop right there. This story touched my heart in a way few romances do and if this was a movie it would definitely be one of those tearjerker Lifetime movies. This wasn’t a rags to riches, or a marriage of convenience. This is a glimpse into a marriage with two flawed people and how they fight back to regain their love and sanity. There was so much heart in this story I wondered if the author had lived through it.
A must read, just have a hanky at the ready.

Hump Day Inspiration with Nichelle Gregory and Ample Delights

I’d like to thank W. Lynn Chantale for having me on her blog today! One of the best parts of being an author is connecting with other talented writers willing to support and encourage you to continue to hone your craft!

Today, I’m going to talk about men.
What makes a man sexy?
Ask a room full of women that question and you’ll probably get many different answers.
Like his physical...

and material attributes...
But, that’s all surface stuff. A man’s physique will definitely get a woman to look. But, men, you should know most of us don’t need or want you to be super cut. What we notice more than anything is how you carry yourself...how you treat others.
We are drawn to confidence.
Humor.
Sensitivity.
Compassion. (Insert pic 3)

Passion.
Deep down we’re searching for the guy that will makes us feel like we are the only thing he sees in a crowded room of half-naked women. (This is not a joke.)
A woman wants a guy that can make her laugh when she wants to cry and who’ll hold her tight when she does.
A woman wants a guy that will sit and listen to her even when you haven’t a clue what she’s talking about.
A woman wants a guy that’s willing to do whatever it takes to make her happy because when she’s given her heart to you that’s exactly what she’s constantly trying to do for you.
I’m sure there are some guys who may read this and think it all sounds like too much work and for you it probably is and that’s okay.
It just means you aren’t ready to stop putting you first.
Relax. You aren’t the man we are looking for.
