Those of you who've done a few of my giveaways know I keep things simple. So leave a comment with your email addy if you'd like to win some goodies. And yes my contests are open to International fans. Now that we have that out the way I'm very pleased to have Vonnie and Calvin Davis to kick this party off the right way.
I just love their story and they are why I love romance. Take it away Vonnie and Calvin.
Calvin and I met on match dot com. No big deal, really, until you realize I was 54 and he was 70. Think about it, two old fogeys finding love online. Can you dig it? We slowly progressed from daily emails to instant messaging for hours to long distance phone calls. I lived in southern PA at the time and he was in the DC metro area. We were married a year to the date from our first email. That was 9 years ago, so we are still newlyweds.
I confess, when I heard the story of how you two met I immediately thought of ‘The Newlywed Game.’ So I did a little search and found a few questions.
What fictional character does your spouse most resemble?
Vonnie: This is hard. Let me think. Zorro. Calvin is all for protecting the weak and less advantaged. He’ll avenge me in a minute, if he thinks someone has upset me. He’s a very heroic character, and much like Zorro.
Calvin: There is no one fictional character Vonnie resembles. In order to find someone almost like her, one most choose from a variety of characters to capture her. These characters must be compassionate, empathetic, sensitive and always ready to help the underdog. Even with a host of characters, no doubt I would still miss one or two of her good attributes. But certainly one character won’t do it.
Name something, other than an apple, you always have at least one of a day to keep the doctor away?
Vonnie: Coffee
Calvin: Laughter. Both of us have senses of humor that are easily triggered. Each has learned that in order to make it through this upside-down world, one must have a sense of humor. For Shakespeare was right when he said, “What fools we mortals be.” (Don’t believe Shakespeare? Look at the evening news tonight – when not crying, you’ll be laughing.) With that in mind, Vonnie and I often laugh at ourselves. We’ve learned that if you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re in deep, deep trouble.
What would your spouse say was an interesting tidbit of information s/he heard about you from friends and family?
Vonnie: That he was a basketball jock in high school and terribly shy around the girls.
Calvin: This did not come from Vonnie’s friends or family. It came from her. While at a wrestling event in which her son was a participant, she was convinced the referee was unfair to her offspring. She let him know it, too. In fact, she, shouting, let everybody within two city blocks know how she felt. The complaining parent was unceremoniously escorted from the premises.
Describe your spouse in a bathing suit using only song titles.
Vonnie: There’s an old ZZ Top song, “She’s got Legs.” Of course I’d have to change it to “He’s got Legs.” Oh, and indeed he does. **wink**
Calvin: “There she is, Miss. America.”
How long can your spouse go without a book?
Vonnie: Did you say book or iPAD? He carries his iPAD everywhere. As a writer, he uses his dictionary and thesaurus almost every day, so I’d say not long.
Calvin: Vonnie has a “poor man’s library” of books stored in the Kindle, and she reads from a novel every night.
The tagline for my blog is, ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ How do you indulge?
Vonnie: I’m a “hug sponge.” I’ll soak up a good hug in a minute, and Calvin gives the most wonderful hugs. And when he kisses me on the back of the neck, well, let’s just say I’m all his.
Calvin: Everything with Vonnie is an indulgence. My life began when I met her. The first time I hugged her was an epiphany. I had been accustomed to hugging my ex-wife. Her kisses were somewhere between an icicle and an iceberg, tending to be closer to the later. I was tired of residing, romantically, in the North Pole, and Vonnie brought me into the warmth of her sunshine. Oh, happy day.
Blurb for The Phantom Lady of Paris:
A suspense-filled love story, The Phantom Lady of Paris tells of American Paul Lasser and his sojourn to the City of Light, where he meets the mysterious Phantom Lady, Bonnie Silver, a woman who is more question marks than periods. Why is she in Paris and why do French police investigate her and her "persons-of-interest" friends? One friend, a flower child, overdoses on drugs. Another, morphs into a terrorist, bombing cafes. Is a communist agitator an associate of Bonnie's? Slowly, Paul unearths the answers and while they quench his need to know, they will forever haunt him.

Half Native American, with the ability to have "vision dreams," Storm dreams about Rachel for three nights before her arrival. Both are unprepared for the firestorm of emotions their first encounter ignites.
Ultimately, it is Rachel’s past—an abusive, maniacal ex-boyfriend—that threatens to keep them apart…and Storm’s dreams that bring them together again.
