Trading Up with Mahalia Levey

Trading Up
It’s Release Day!
I’m excited to be releasing my third 1NS story through Decadent. This time instead of going a exotic location or a paranormal getaway… I kept the story close to home with two likeminded individuals who couldn’t quite get it right in the romance department. Check out what happens to them when Madame Eve takes them into her care and shows them what they are missing.

Blurb: Camilla’s deal breakers make finding a man to fit her wants, needs, and desires darn near impossible. For years she’s been primped and primed to be the perfect political daughter, when all she really wants to do is let loose without her world collapsing. When a friend sends her Madam Eve’s way, she grabs the opportunity to explore without being outed to the conservative watchdogs.
Jonah Black’s career is heading for a change. His friends have dubbed him married to the military, and he can’t deny that his focus has been off center. While they enjoy the pleasures of life and wives, he has nothing to come home to. When offered the chance for a 1NS, he signs up, unprepared for the exotic woman whose sweet exterior masks enticing sexuality.
Sensory depravation and the natural freedom of anonymity launch unexpected sexual desires. Madame Eve’s only request–Enjoy the sweetness of life and let the chips fall where they may–leaves this couple eager for an eye-opening experience that breaks all the rules.

Excerpt:
The flames licking inside her were too much to take, along with his roaming hand. She leaned forward and grasped the chilled wine goblet as a lifeline. When he nudged her lips to take a second taste, she pressed them together, holding her finger up and then laughing because he couldn’t see it in the dark. She took a long cool sip, more from Jonah’s effect on her than the food. She licked her lips then tucked herself against him, momentarily satisfied.
“Better?
“Mmm.” Cam sighed. “When’s it your turn? I’m having all the fun.”
“I’m having a good time feeding you.”
“You’re not hungry?” In the dark, his heart pounded against her cheek. “I’m hungry, all right. Ravenous, even.” Jonah caressed her thigh. Cam had no doubt his eyes would scorch her to her very soul. His lazy trail along her skin left her smoldering in need. She let him ply her with another skewer to distract from the throb at the apex of her thighs. She sucked a piece of pineapple he held between his fingers. Juices trickled down her chin. He mopped the stream of liquid with the pad of his thumb and nosily sucked it off. Holy bananas, she wanted a taste of him now. Her mind kept rewinding to the feel of his finger parting her lips.
“I uh…need to use the ladies’ room.” Cam pressed the button on the table for assistance and slid off of Jonah’s lap and into her seat. Seconds later, her guide assisted her out of her chair and slid it back in.
“Here we go, Ms. Knox.”
She stepped awkwardly away from the table. Along the way, she heard soft sighs and giggles. Definitely some hard-core kissing action. The idea of giving in to the dark side and making out in public heightened her ardor. A loud bang startled her. She jumped, almost losing Cesaire’s grasp.
“Don’t worry Ms. Knox. Almost there.” A few more steps and he ushered her into a space where dim lighting burned her dilated pupils for a moment before her eyes adjusted. He sat on a lounge chair between two doors marked Men and Women. The dim glow brought her normal self-conscious thoughts raging forward. In the dark Jonah couldn’t see her physical flaws. Would that change once he saw the real her?

Taking Control with Virginia Nelson

1-Tell the readers a little about yourself.
I’m a single mom of three kids who lives in chilly northeast Ohio by Lake Erie.  I love to travel, sing off-key and drink copious amounts of coffee.  Sometimes I yell at inanimate objects but only if I think they are being intentionally impossible…
2-As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?
I love to read.  Some of my favorite authors are Kristan Higgins, Heather Long, and Saranna DeWylde.  I also have always been a huge Robin McKinley fan.
3-How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?
I wish there was a day when my muse was kind enough to be uncooperative.  I seem to have an overabundance of ideas.  My biggest struggle is hours in a day and fighting eyestrain to get everything down.  My muse is apparently as hopped up on coffee as I am.
4-If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?
Ireland.  It doesn’t even have to be a romantic getaway, I just want to go there.  I want to go and sit in an Irish pub and listen to everyone talk.  Irish accents trip my trigger.
5-What is the hardest thing for you to write?
The middle.  The beginning of the book is always easy as it usually punches me in the gut and screams, “Write me!”  The end of the book is simple because, by then, I’ve created my world, my characters and we’re just solving everything.  The middle though?  That is the part that threatens to lag.  That is the part where I’m trying to give the information we need for that rush to the finish and not bore the reader to tears.  I love writing shorts because, really, you avoid that part entirely.
6-If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?
Oh, that is a tough one!  It would have to be one of my paranormal characters.  I think I would want to be Sage.  He is a witch in my coming Witches and Wolves series and even I’m not sure what all powers he has…
7-The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?
I indulge my inner chocoholic.  I’m really decadent in the simple pleasures of life.  A fuzzy sweater, a warm cup of coffee, the feel of a breeze washing across my arm as I drive down the road…all of these things are enough to make me smile. But chocolate?  Yes, that is my big indulgence.

Looking for love…
When she got voted off "Find Your Hubby," a reality tv gameshow, Mellie gave up on finding love.
 In all the wrong places...
Everyone knows that you are more likely to get hit by lightning than find a husband once you're 40. Using the last of her winnings in a spur of the moment fling, she pays for a matchmaking service that offers you the perfect person-For One Night Only.
Can you buy passion?
When the 'perfect person' they find her is a woman, she first questions their selection service...Then her own desires.

About the Author:
Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around.  When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects.  She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude.  Romance, in Ms. Nelson's opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor- it is about riding the dragon.  If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.
Excerpt:
"Maybe dancing wasn't the best idea."
I knew it. She doesn't find me attractive. Damn it.
Not sure why the thought bothered her so, she shrugged and followed Alex out the front doors of the restaurant. The beach, painted in hues of violet and blue, emitted a whispering murmur of surf and night. Everything smelled fresh and alive, the air full of excitement.
Or maybe she reacted to the pulsing energy she longed to find an outlet for.
Going through a mental tally of reasons her date-her paid date-wouldn't like her. From the extra ten pounds she could never lose, to her lack of conversational skills, caused mostly by nerves, there were a thousand possible reasons Alex might not find her attractive.
Lost in thought, she wobbled when Alex spun her, pinned her to a wall, and closed hot lips over her own. Opening her mouth to seek out the other woman's tongue, she compared it to kissing a man. Similar, but at the same time, very different-softer, sweeter tasting. Unbelievably erotic.
Fire.
The word blazed in her mind as Alex's body pressed hers against the wall, her lips both seducing and demanding response. Alex's tongue slid into the recesses of her mouth as if it belonged there, while she caught the hair at Mellie's nape and yanked her head to the side. Almost too much…but added up to just what she wanted.
The kiss took her breath away.
She couldn't think. So good. So right, somehow.
And then she surfaced, gasping, as Alex stepped back, licked her lips, and stuffed her hands in her pockets. Her mouth quirked into a cocky grin. "Been wanting to do that all night."
Mellie nodded, lifting one hand to her throat, fingertips pressing on the hyper-aware flesh. Swallowing, she tried to determine what she thought of the experience.
"Sorry. I mean, if I took you by surprise or whatever."
Mellie nodded again. Her body a furnace, need welled up like a fist to punch her in the gut. Possibilities stretched out, and she hungered to taste more-wanted to touch and be touched.
"Uh, so…if it made you uncomfortable…?"
She did not want to discuss it.
Live each day like it is your last.
Catching Alex's wrist, she tugged her closer and merged their mouths.

Book Spotlight-Senator Mine by Kerry Adrienne

Eleanor’s dream of a romantic tour of Italy shatters when her long-time boyfriend breaks up with her in Pompeii. Determined to enjoy the once in a lifetime vacation, she enlists the 1NS service. She continues her trip, stopping to buy a small golden signet in a mysterious antiquities shop in Rome.
Darius, a hard-working Senator in Ancient Rome, is puzzled by the Sibyl’s words: You will not find love in your lifetime. Hoping to find a measure of happiness, he agrees to the Sibyl’s quest. In the olive grove, he spots Eleanor, a barbarian wearing his stolen senator’s ring.
A night spent together may be just what they both need to break down the columns of time that stand between them.

Excerpt:
“What is it?” She moved closer to examine the object he held.
“A senator’s ring from the time of Augustus.” He waved the item with a flourish. “A rare and beautiful find, for a deserving young woman.”
The golden circle sparkled in the half-light like the wedding band that shone in her dreams. She tried to control her sharp intake of breath.
“A rather personal memento, wouldn’t you say?”
“It’s beautiful.”
“Indeed.”
“Which senator?” Gorgeous. What a find. Was it legal to take it out of the country? Surely it held historical significance.
“Yes, it can be exported,” the shopkeeper said. “We don’t know who owned the signet, as many records of the Senate at that time were lost, but it has been cleared by the Antiquities Commission.”
She hadn’t mentioned exporting it aloud. Had he read her mind? No, that wasn’t possible. She squirmed. Nothing about the shop or its contents felt normal. One thing was certain. The ring was amazing. And perfect.
“What does the engraving say?” she asked.
“Darius.”
She drew in a quick breath, as a gasp of warm air breezed across her neck, making the hairs stand. She shuddered. I’ve been watching too many old movies.
“As common as the name was at the time, no senators named Darius are on any rolls.” The shopkeeper pushed it closer to her face. “And Madame Eve recommends it. What do you say?”
“How much?” Eleanor whispered.
“Ah.” The shopkeeper grinned. “What price would you pay for a little ring that will change your life forever?”

Druid, Mine
Anya’s wish for a normal date—away from the old man she is caretaker for—comes true in unexpected ways when she finds herself whisked to an ancient Irish stone circle on solstice eve.
Carrick’s decision to follow the path to become an Ovate druid has not come lightly, and he plans to spend the solstice eve in meditation unless fairies or evil spirits disrupt the circle. When a feisty girl walks right up to the fire, more than sparks fly.
They each seek healing and a connection, but the darkness of summer is short, and once the solstice sun breaks through the circle at dawn, the magic of the night will be over. Even Madame Eve can’t stop the day from rising.

Excerpt:
Maybe I’m the first person Madame Eve can’t find a match for. And how was it any better than just picking someone up from one of the dozen bars along the street?
Bile filled her throat. Being caretaker for the old man had filled her days but left her empty inside. I’m lonely. I need this 1Night Stand. She stifled a sob. Crying wouldn’t help anything. She had chosen her path knowing full well what the consequences would be. Maybe she hadn’t foreseen how deeply alone she’d feel, but she’d known what she was getting into, work-wise. She used to be a risk taker, impulsive and willing to try new things. Why was she so willing to settle for security now?
The town’s few buildings rose in shadowed relief in the dusky twilight around the city center like tall stones. Guardians, perhaps. Behind them lay the mountains, the wild unknown. She sat straight and leaned into the faint spray from the fountain. The cool mist spread across the back of her arms. Closing her eyes, she lifted her long hair so the moisture could reach the back of her neck.
“Aine?”
Anya dropped her hair.
“Hello?” No one.
“Aine. Let’s go.” The voice floated on drops of water and fell through the air.
“What?” No one was near.
“I’m here.” The voice settled softly like dew on her skin. The air wavered over the fountain and the water slowed.
I only had one beer.
“Come. He awaits.”
For the briefest moment, a golden light eclipsed the edge of Anya’s vision then darkness slid over her.

A Moment with Clarissa Yip

Hi Clarissa, it's great to have you here again at Decadent Decisions. Please enjoy the buffet and the open bar. The guys are always eager to serve. :-)

1-Tell the readers a little about yourself.
My name is Clarissa. I write contemporary romance. I enjoy scrapbooking, video games, trying new foods, and traveling… Um…Usually I’m all over the place but I’ve currently moved from Hawaii back to the mainland and am staying on the East Coast right now. Can’t say I’m overly crazy about being in the cold weather…
2-As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?
I’m reading constantly! I dabble in various genres depending on my mood. There’s not a day that I don’t open up a book. Some of my favorite authors are JR Ward, Julie Garwood, Jude Devereux, Lynn Raye Harris, Catherine Mann, Olivia Gates…my list could go on!
3-How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?
I basically throw her out on the street and we get into brawls all the time. If she’s feeling like a cowgirl, then we might have a showdown, or if she wants to play Tomb Raider, then I have to dig out my guns. Sometimes we’ll have Street Fighter Tournaments…I guess I do everything that I can do to tease my muse into cooperating. She is pretty evil…
4-If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?
Well. I’ve always dreamed of going to Europe, specifically Italy and Greece. If I could have a romantic dinner on a vineyard or on some hightop mountain facing the ocean, with some hot guy that loves me, I’d say it’d be a heaven of sorts. Just make sure there’s enough champagne and cake for me…
5-What is the hardest thing for you to write?
I would say historicals. I love to read them but I don’t think I have the mindset to write them or the overall passion I do when I write contemporary and suspense.
6-If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?
I would have to say Sarah from Tempting a Prince. She sets out to look for Prince Charming, and is determined to get over her childhood crush on her best friend’s brother, Evan, only to find that her Prince Charming who doesn’t turn out to be so Charming-ish is actually Evan. Sarah is a school teacher, but she’s got spunk and she’s cute. I want to be a princess just like her.
7-The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?
I indulge in everything sweet, caffeine, and boundless amounts of books in my TBR pile. I buy books, but I always finding myself buying more books even before I finish reading the ones I already have! Books are one of my weak points, what can I say? Lol
Thank you so much for having me here!

Sarah Westfall is on a mission. Living the mundane life of a near spinster school teacher and sick of her parents throwing eligible men at her, she is determined to get over her crush on her best friend’s brother. She wants a prince and wouldn’t settle for less. What better way than a 1Night Stand?
Evan Hunt needs to figure out his enemy’s game plan. Chasing his nemesis to Las Vegas and signing up for Madame Eve’s service and masquerade, he never expected the woman he’s desired for years to appear before him…as his princess.
When their attraction fires the night, the inevitable happens. Her prince isn’t as charming as she’s hoped, but he does save her from trouble. Would he be willing to fulfill her fantasies also?

Stubborn and proud cowgirl, Lily McCormick, is finally coming to terms with her quiet life on her parent’s ranch, until her older brother, as payback, signs her up for 1NightStand. Kidnapped and forced onto a plane to a foreign location, she faces the dreaded cold and an unwanted tryst, until her ex-husband appears before her…as her date.
New York City District Attorney, Rafe Martinez, would do anything to get his ex-wife back, even if it meant taking drastic measures to pretend he was there for another woman. When jealousy and rage surfaces and Lily’s tough demeanor wanes, desire and lust sparks their once powerful connection as truths unfold. Will Rafe convince her to return to him or push her further away from giving their love a second chance?

Shy tomboy Jenna Faulkner has been in love her whole life—with her best friend. Except he’s marrying the wrong woman, and he doesn’t know it yet. But she’s determined to save him.
Instead of the normal bachelor party, Jenna decides to throw a different type of gathering…with just her. Alone. Will Cade finally come to his senses and see Jenna for more than a friend, or has she ruined their friendship once and for all?

Hero Inspiring Hunks

Thank you for hosting me as part of my blog tour!

In Beneath the Starry Sky, Josh Duhamel inspired the hero, Josh Summers. While they are both models turned actors, Josh Summers has a secret that his inspiration does not.

In another of my 1Night Stand releases, Celestial Seduction, not only is David Boreanaz inspiration for Frey Berger, but the male cover model resembles him. (At least, I think so.)

Now, in the novel I have releasing later this year, The Zurian Child, there are two heroes. Justin Hartley is inspiration for Quinn Montgomery, and Tom Welling for Bryce Beuermann. (I watched a lot of Smallville.)

And now to my favorite hunk who is inspiration for the hero in my current work-in-progress—along with some other stories—Nathan Fillion. He’s a space cowboy and a writer (and in my story, a military firefighter.)

So what hunks do you think are worthy of being heroes in romance stories?
Be sure to leave a comment with your email addy for a chance to win a $20 GC to All Romance ebooks. For more chances to win comment on any of the posts in her tour.

Silent Night Seduction

Wouldn’t you like to be kidnapped for the holidays?
Are you getting ready for the holidays? Counting down how many days you have before you need to be ready for Santa? Are the kid’s wish lists so ridiculous that you don’t even know where to start? Or your holiday guest list runs a mile long? Or no one understands that you are Santa Claus?
I’d say run away…
Or better yet…Get kidnapped!
That’s what happened to Lily McCormick. Her brother Shane kidnaps her and sticks her on a plane to Alaska. Now what would a cowgirl from Texas know about snow and freezing temperatures?
Obviously, not a whole lot with her cowboy boots and denim skirts…in the cold? To Lily, she’s landed in Winter Wonderland Hell
It gets even worse when she finds out that her ex-husband is there for a one-night stand set up by a famous matchmaking service. What’s a girl to do but make it into a more memorable holiday?
At least she’s able to avoid the mall…unlike some of us. Avoid the disaster at the grocery stores or arguing with some fat woman over some cashmere scarf. Maybe we should all just hop on a plane and go to Alaska. Too cold?
Where would you want to be kidnapped to for the holidays?
Silent Night’s Seduction
Blurb:
Stubborn and proud cowgirl, Lily McCormick, is finally coming to terms with her quiet life on her parent’s ranch, until her older brother, as payback, signs her up for 1NightStand. Kidnapped and forced onto a plane to a foreign location, she faces the dreaded cold and an unwanted tryst, until her ex-husband appears before her…as her date.

Will Rafe convince her to return to him or push her further away from giving their love a second chance?

Excerpt:
A curse erupted into the room. “You came here for a one-night stand?”
The rage in her tone lightened his heart. If she could be angry with him then she must care for him still. Pouring himself a drink, he took his time answering. “Actually, more than that.” He turned around. “It’s three days before Christmas. I hope to spend the whole time with my date and escort her to the ball on Christmas Eve.”
Lily’s mouth dropped open then closed. “Well, good for you. But let me ask you, where is your date?”
Rafe frowned. “You know, that’s a good question. Why and how are you in my room?”
“This is my room!”
He stilled, praying she wouldn’t see through him. “That can’t be. I specifically requested a brunette as my date.”
Lily sputtered. “You—you cad!”
“This must be a mistake.” He went over to the chair he’d occupied earlier and pulled his phone out of his coat pocket. “I’ll email Madame Eve and get this straightened out. Worse comes to worst, you can go request a different room.”
An outraged gasp sounded behind him. “Why do I have to be the one to leave?”
He whirled around and gave her what he hoped was a convincing bewildered look. “Unless…you’re my date?”
She paused. “Hell no.”

A Moment with Clarissa Yip

1-Tell the readers a little about yourself.
Hmm…That’s a hard question. No, really it is. I’m an author, a student, a scrapbooker, a video gamer, and…what were we talking about? Lol. Sorry. I grew up in New York, have been traveling across the states the past few years. I’ve stayed in Hawaii for about two and a half years. Sometimes I’ll be in California, New York, possibly Texas (only if I want to put up with family), but right now I live in Maryland…until the travel bug bites me again. I write contemporary romance, I’m a big Castle fan, and I love LOVE to eat! I will drive to wherever there is good food. (Well, also because no one wants me in the kitchen. My own cooking scares me.) I love languages. I speak Chinese at home but I’ve studied Korean and Mandarin for years. Currently, I’m working on my Masters in International Business Marketing Management. My dream? Is to share my stories with the whole word. Preferably one day in different languages.
2-As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?
I love to read! Who doesn’t? lol. I’m constantly adding to my TBR pile. (That thing is monstrous.) Some of my fave authors include JR. Ward, Harlequin authors Lynn Raye Harris, Olivia Gates, and also many old time authors like Judith McNaught, Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, Jude Devereaux… My list could go on forever! I still love to dig up the older books and read them over and over again. There’s just some sort of comfort in reading stories you grew up with.
3-How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?
My muse? She’s mean! It depends on where I am, I think. Usually when I’m in Hawaii, she’s more cooperative or she’ll just run off to the beach without me. If I’m in California, she’s too busy shopping and trying to fill up on Mexican food. In New York, she’s hides because she hates the demands brought on by family. She doesn’t have much thinking space there (Okay, my parents drive her nuts. The truth.) Now in Maryland? She’s just chillin’. Sometimes she’ll come out and be ferocious and force me to write continuously, other times she’s feeling sun deprived so I have to bribe her with food. *whispers* Is it weird that she comes out more vivid when I’m showering? Seems I’ve been doing my plotting more in the shower than anywhere else…
4-If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?
Wow! Don’t think I’ve ever been asked this one before. Romantic getaway? I would say anywhere in Europe or somewhere warm. I’ve always wanted to go to Italy and visit the vineyards and meet some hot Italian guy that would seduce me with their accent. Or they could just bring me to Hong Kong and buy me street food. It’s good! I swear. I see it in movies all the time. Ever watch Anthony Bourdain? Dangerous man. I wish I had his job at times… I think anywhere is romantic as long as you’re with the one you love and you’re having a good time making memories.
5-What is the hardest thing for you to write?
Writing is easy! (that’s such a lie.) I think I struggle most with just getting the ideas on paper and just starting to write. I could have really good days and know what I want, but then some days… I do all this plotting and outlining and character mapping, and then when I actually sit down and write, my characters decide that they don’t want to do that. They’ll just do the opposite of what I want to occur. (Mean muse, again.) I write mainly contemporary romance, but I love reading paranormals. If you told me to write a paranormal…that story might take years to get done. My brain just doesn’t function that way.
6-If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?

Hmmm…I would have to say Jenna from One Chance. She’s spunky, shy, but seen as one of the guys. I wish I was physically shaped like her. (She’s a gym teacher. I’m not coordinated at all. I could easily trip over my own feet. Yup, clutzy.) Jenna’s courage and determination in getting what she wants draws me to her. And what does she want? To save her best friend, Cade who is marrying the wrong woman. They’re best friends and I’ve always dreamed of falling for my best friend. The friendship/love dynamics just intrigue me. One Chance is a short story, but the way their relationship grows just tugs at my heart. I’m cheering for Jenna the whole time and hoping Cade isn’t an idiot. * fingers crossed * Of course you know, they work things out.
7-The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?
Well, besides that tag line being dangerous? My inner romantic would be indulging in my TBR pile, flying all over the country for awesome food, and always seeking the next best idea for writing the best story.
