Share a Secret with LeeAnn Burke

Tell the readers a little about yourself.

I started writing before I hit my teen years. As a teenager, I always had a pencil and paper with me everywhere I went and simply wrote. I never thought of it as a future career, I simply loved to write. It wasn’t until I hit my mid to late twenties that I decided I wanted to get published. I figured it would take me maybe a year for that to happen. Boy was I wrong. Ten years ago self pubbing wasn’t as accepted as it is today. So I plugged away at writing and waited for my turn which came a few years ago. I have to say it was well worth the wait. 

Then last year a business partner and I bought my publisher, Lachesis Publishing. So my focus went from writing and promoting my own book to rebuilding the publisher. I have to say it’s a great adventure

As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?

I am a readaholic. I like a wide variety of books from historical romance to thrillers to hot steamy books. That’s why my to be read pile of books is over 1,500 books right now. I used to read 4-6 books a week now I’m down to 1-3 if I’m lucky. I do most of my reading on the bus to work or late at night.

How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?

This is something I have had problems with. I found out the hard way that forcing myself to write when I can’t doesn’t work for me. I ended up doing that years ago and ended up having to walk away from writing for over 2 years. It was a hard decision to make but it was the right one for me because when I did come back I was a stronger person and became a stronger writers as well.

If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?

There are many countries I would like to visit like Russia and Australia, but I’d really like to see the rest of Canada. I have seen all the eastern provinces and what beauty they have. I’d love to see what else there is in Canada to see. 

What is the hardest thing for you to write?

I find writing my sex scenes to be the hardest. I want them to be more emotional than anything else. I find that I can’t be objective or detached and write a strong/good sex scene. 

If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?

I would love to have Vanessa, the heroine in the book I am writing, confidence. She doesn’t have a university degree, but she knows what she wants and how to get it fairly. She works hard, but still makes time to play to the delight of my hero.

The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?

My indulgences aren’t really romantic, but I do love a good cookie. I know some would say a good cup of coffee or tea makes their day. For me it’s a good cookie and a good book to read.

Thrown together by circumstance and a mutual goal, Philippe and Roxanne fight their attraction and team up to find the killer, bring him to justice and unearth the truth. To stay alive, they must keep one step ahead of the assassin in order to prevent him from killing his next target, Philippe.

Will they succeed in bringing to justice this killer before Philippe becomes his next victim? Will they be able to deal with the truth behind the deadly secrets?

About the Author

At the age of 12 Leeann put pen to paper and created stories. She finished her first and only short story within weeks. She kept on writing through high school, university and her first few dead end jobs. To this day she still has a pen and paper handy.
