Taking Control with Virginia Nelson

1-Tell the readers a little about yourself.
I’m a single mom of three kids who lives in chilly northeast Ohio by Lake Erie.  I love to travel, sing off-key and drink copious amounts of coffee.  Sometimes I yell at inanimate objects but only if I think they are being intentionally impossible…
2-As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?
I love to read.  Some of my favorite authors are Kristan Higgins, Heather Long, and Saranna DeWylde.  I also have always been a huge Robin McKinley fan.
3-How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?
I wish there was a day when my muse was kind enough to be uncooperative.  I seem to have an overabundance of ideas.  My biggest struggle is hours in a day and fighting eyestrain to get everything down.  My muse is apparently as hopped up on coffee as I am.
4-If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?
Ireland.  It doesn’t even have to be a romantic getaway, I just want to go there.  I want to go and sit in an Irish pub and listen to everyone talk.  Irish accents trip my trigger.
5-What is the hardest thing for you to write?
The middle.  The beginning of the book is always easy as it usually punches me in the gut and screams, “Write me!”  The end of the book is simple because, by then, I’ve created my world, my characters and we’re just solving everything.  The middle though?  That is the part that threatens to lag.  That is the part where I’m trying to give the information we need for that rush to the finish and not bore the reader to tears.  I love writing shorts because, really, you avoid that part entirely.
6-If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?
Oh, that is a tough one!  It would have to be one of my paranormal characters.  I think I would want to be Sage.  He is a witch in my coming Witches and Wolves series and even I’m not sure what all powers he has…
7-The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?
I indulge my inner chocoholic.  I’m really decadent in the simple pleasures of life.  A fuzzy sweater, a warm cup of coffee, the feel of a breeze washing across my arm as I drive down the road…all of these things are enough to make me smile. But chocolate?  Yes, that is my big indulgence.

Looking for love…
When she got voted off "Find Your Hubby," a reality tv gameshow, Mellie gave up on finding love.
 In all the wrong places...
Everyone knows that you are more likely to get hit by lightning than find a husband once you're 40. Using the last of her winnings in a spur of the moment fling, she pays for a matchmaking service that offers you the perfect person-For One Night Only.
Can you buy passion?
When the 'perfect person' they find her is a woman, she first questions their selection service...Then her own desires.

About the Author:
Virginia Nelson spends her days chasing three very active kids around.  When she is not doing this, or plotting taking over the world, she likes to write, play in the mud, drive far too fast and scream at inanimate objects.  She can often be found listening to music that is far too loud and typing her next fantastic tale of blood, sex and random acts of ineptitude.  Romance, in Ms. Nelson's opinion, is not about riding off into the sunset on the back of a horse with the knight in shining armor- it is about riding the dragon.  If the knight can keep up… well, that is love.
Excerpt:
"Maybe dancing wasn't the best idea."
I knew it. She doesn't find me attractive. Damn it.
Not sure why the thought bothered her so, she shrugged and followed Alex out the front doors of the restaurant. The beach, painted in hues of violet and blue, emitted a whispering murmur of surf and night. Everything smelled fresh and alive, the air full of excitement.
Or maybe she reacted to the pulsing energy she longed to find an outlet for.
Going through a mental tally of reasons her date-her paid date-wouldn't like her. From the extra ten pounds she could never lose, to her lack of conversational skills, caused mostly by nerves, there were a thousand possible reasons Alex might not find her attractive.
Lost in thought, she wobbled when Alex spun her, pinned her to a wall, and closed hot lips over her own. Opening her mouth to seek out the other woman's tongue, she compared it to kissing a man. Similar, but at the same time, very different-softer, sweeter tasting. Unbelievably erotic.
Fire.
The word blazed in her mind as Alex's body pressed hers against the wall, her lips both seducing and demanding response. Alex's tongue slid into the recesses of her mouth as if it belonged there, while she caught the hair at Mellie's nape and yanked her head to the side. Almost too much…but added up to just what she wanted.
The kiss took her breath away.
She couldn't think. So good. So right, somehow.
And then she surfaced, gasping, as Alex stepped back, licked her lips, and stuffed her hands in her pockets. Her mouth quirked into a cocky grin. "Been wanting to do that all night."
Mellie nodded, lifting one hand to her throat, fingertips pressing on the hyper-aware flesh. Swallowing, she tried to determine what she thought of the experience.
"Sorry. I mean, if I took you by surprise or whatever."
Mellie nodded again. Her body a furnace, need welled up like a fist to punch her in the gut. Possibilities stretched out, and she hungered to taste more-wanted to touch and be touched.
"Uh, so…if it made you uncomfortable…?"
She did not want to discuss it.
Live each day like it is your last.
Catching Alex's wrist, she tugged her closer and merged their mouths.

A Moment with Nona Raines

1-Tell the readers a little about yourself.
Thanks so much for having me here today. I'm a former school librarian who enjoys all kinds of books, but especially romances. I've been writing off and on for a long time. But a couple of years ago I became determined to actually complete a manuscript.

Now I spend my days writing, reading and researching, hanging out with my pets and trying to ignore the dust bunnies that just grow bigger and bigger…

2-As an author, do you take time to read? If so, what do you like to read and who is/are your favorite author/s?
I love to read, and think it’s so important for authors to keep doing it, even though it's hard to find the time.  Some of my favorite authors are Joey W. Hill, Lorelei James, and Cari Quinn. For less erotic romances, I love Mary Balogh and Lisa Kleypas. And though they write YA rather than romance, I also enjoy the works of Walter Dean Myers, Jacqueline Woodson and Virginia Hamilton.

3-How do you stay motivated when the Muse is uncooperative?
That's a tough one. I might take a break, read something, do a little housework (when I'm really desperate), take a walk.  Anything to re-energize the brain cells. Sometimes I try to write free-form and just let words spill out, even if they don't seem to make sense. Or I'll skip over a scene that's hard for me and work on something more appealing. Of course, you finally do have to go back to fill in the blanks, lol! Sometimes you just have to soldier on.

4-If you could go anywhere in the world on a romantic getaway, what would you do and where would you go?
There are so many possibilities, but I think it would be delightful to spend time in one of those amazing luxury Adirondack resorts. You get to enjoy the scenery of the Adirondacks while being pampered. If I had a couple thousand to spend per night, I'd be right there!

5-What is the hardest thing for you to write?
The sex scenes! Once in a while I'll get on a roll and they'll flow smoothly, but often they're difficult because you want to get the right balance of hot and sweet. You want the reader to feel the heat, but have to remember the emotion as well. You're writing a ROMANCE, after all! Then of course, there's the little matter of making sure everyone's body parts are in the correct place and you're not having your characters do anything that's physically impossible, lol!

6-If you could live the life of one of your characters who would you be?
I'd have to say Tania Talcott, one of the heroines of my latest release, Irresistible Impulse. She's  impulsive, gutsy and not afraid to say exactly what she thinks. In other words, all the things that I'm afraid to be!
Let me share a little more about the story:
Ordinarily, Tania Talcott wouldn't be caught dead at a speed dating event, but she lost a stupid bet. Checking out the slim pickings, she's convinced the evening will be a total bust--until a classy, sensual, African American woman enters the room. A woman Tania met briefly once before and never forgot.

Latisha Hobbs is only attending this event to support her young cousin, who's ready to start dating again. Latisha's heart has been on ice for quite some time. But she finds herself immediately--and strongly--enticed by the friendly overtures of a vivacious redhead. Or are they more than friendly?

Fueled by an irresistible impulse, Tania wastes no time getting to know the beautiful woman. Latisha is drawn to Tania as well, but memories of an unhappy love affair make her reluctant to act. These two opposites definitely attract, but will their differences be too much to overcome?

7-The tag line on my blog is ‘Indulge Your Inner Romantic.’ What do you do to indulge?
What is life without indulging? Indulgence to me equals hot lattes, delicious chocolate and kicking back to attack the TBR pile on my Kindle or an old-skool paperback. To me, that's the lap of luxury!
Thanks again for having me here today!

Genre: Contemporary sensual romance F/F

Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.
Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author and looks forward to hearing from readers.
Excerpt:
As they chatted and laughed Latisha again felt that sensation vibrate through her body, that combination of nerves and sexual longing. She was light-headed with anticipation and weak with fear.
Of course, the alcohol didn’t help. But as Tania shared some funny stories about her experiences working with the public, all Latisha could think about was leaning forward and pressing her lips to Tania’s pink mouth.
Don’t go there.
Tania grew blurry as Danielle’s face floated in front of her. “I’m not in love with you.” The words echoed in her memory.
Tania’s voice brought her back to the present. “Latisha? You all right?”
“Excuse me.” Latisha stood so abruptly she bumped the table and made the glasses jiggle. “I need to use the bathroom.”
“Is everything okay?” Tania’s eyes were wide with concern. “These drinks are delish, but they pack a pretty good kick.”
“I’m not drunk.”
“I never said—”
She had to get away. “Excuse me.”
She brushed past a waitress with a tray of drinks and several others in her rush to the Ladies’ Room. Once there, she washed her hands and patted her cheeks with a damp paper towel, trying to collect herself.

Character Interview-The Submission by D.F.Krieger and Sonia Hightower

Well hello and Welcome to Decadent Decisions. I'm pleased to have Katia and Sylvia from The Submission. They have graciously agreed to answer a few of my questions. The Submission is a co-authored work by D.F. Krieger and Sonia Hightower. Here's the blurb.

The editor is always right... Katia Lane, a down on her luck writer, finds this out the hard way. When she submits an erotic tale to Daring Desires Publishing, one head strong woman meets another as an author/editor war ensues. There's no room for a diva in the publishing industry...and Sylvia L. Avers means to demonstrate this to the fledging writer. When you submit a manuscript to Daring Desires, you submit more than a book...you submit yourself.
As a BDSM conference nears, both women prepare to face off. Which one is going to be the top space?

So with that in mind, ladies let's get started.

What makes you happy now?
Katia: The fact that I'm a rising star in the literary world has me stoked.
Sylvia: Seeing my authors write about important lifestyle choices the correct way.
What is your greatest fear?
Katia: Ugh. One star reviews!
Sylvia: That the masses will believe BDSM is nothing but orgies made of chains, nipple clamps, and whipping in clubs.
What would you change about yourself if you could?
Katia: I would make myself a bit less timid in the bedroom.
Sylvia: Change about myself? *Laughs* Darling, I'm perfect the way I am.
What’s your favorite color?
Katia: Purple.
Sylvia: Oh yes, purple.
What type of vehicle do you drive?
Katia: Well, it was a Honda. Now... a BMW, of course. The royalties are just rolling in.
Sylvia: I love my motorcycle.
Describe yourself to me.
Katia: I'm stubborn and persistent. I don't like being told No. If you tell my book sucks, I strive to make it better. I want to be successful.
Sylvia: I will get my way and you will learn I am always right. That's all that needs to be said.
How would the hero/ine describe you?
Katia: I can only imagine what Sylvia would say about me. I'm guessing she would call me a diva, though I don't agree.
Sylvia: Katia is completely a diva, and I'm sure she'd describe me in with some very unlady-like words.
What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?
Katia: Pirates. Always will be my deep passion. I love everything pirates.
Sylvia: That shining moment when an author finally "gets it."
If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
Katia: To write a bestseller twice a year. Or should I aim for more? Endless supply of chocolate and wine. Fancy resort vacations with a special someone...if she was interested. *sly glance*
Sylvia: *Raises eyebrow* Authors who know what they are writing about if it's important, authors who learn the meaning of research, and authors who know to listen and not argue when I edit them.
What three things would you take to a Desert Island?
Katia: My laptop, coffee, and my editor.
Sylvia: A lifetime supply of Coca Cola, an unlimited ice maker, and my computer.

Excerpt:

Sylvia chuckled as she ran her fingers down the front of the other woman’s dress. The fabric whispered under her fingertips, reminding her of Katia’s skin. She slid her hand to the side, pausing over a breast, before tracing a finger in a circle over where she bet Kat’s nipple was. “Do you want to be spanked?” She allowed her tone to take on the husky sound that often went hand in hand with her state of horniness.

“I...” Katia licked her lips and shifted, obviously experiencing conflicting emotions. “I’m still not sure about spanking. It felt good but...”

“Shhh.” Sylvia placed a finger on the lush, pink lips that she wanted so badly to bruise with kisses. “I know what you need, Kitty Kat. I’ll make you purr.”

She took Katia’s hand and led her to the bed. The structure was large and sat high enough to give her exactly the angle she needed. With coaxing pressure, she bent Katia over the edge of the bed. Sylvia loved the way Kat’s dress flirted with the bottom of her round, firm ass. It brushed the tops of the back of her thighs like a black butterfly testing cream-colored roses.

Without warning, she laid her palm across Katia’s rear in a gentle smack. The woman emitted a soft gasp of surprise, but didn’t struggle. Pleased, Sylvia did it again and again, making each smack a little harder than the last. A part of her wished she’d brought her paddle, but another part enjoyed the silk against her palm. The way it slid higher and higher.
When she had Katia panting, Sylvia slid her hand between the sub’s thighs and inserted a finger into her pussy. “Oh my, Kitty Kat, you are a spigot down there. I’ve never met anyone who could turn the water works on like this.”
Katia’s body tensed, and Sylvia laughed as she used her free hand to slap one of the now exposed ass cheeks. The skin was a nice shade of pink that spoke of force without the risk of bruising. It made Sylvia’s own pussy wet to see how well she’d worked the BDSM virgin over. The mewls of pleasure that Katia gave with each thrust of Sylvia’s finger did nothing to stave off that desire.
“M-mistress!”
“Yes, my little bestseller?” Sylvia pushed her finger deep and held still, awaiting Katia’s next words.
“I think I understand now,” Katia said with a whimper. “I understand it isn’t about pain, but about the trust to take each other past certain boundaries.”
Sylvia shook her head. “Oh no,” she said as she inserted a second finger. “You don’t understand quite yet.”
With those words, she began pumping Katia harder. She allowed her other hand to wander to her waist, down her band, and under her panties. When she slid her finger inside of her, it was like an earthquake shook her entire body. As if sensing her orgasm, Katia screamed out as well, her pussy clenching Sylvia’s fingers.
As they stood there, panting, Sylvia removed her hand from Katia’s sopping pussy. She went to the bathroom, washed her hands off, then filled a cup with cold water. Katia sat on the edge of the bed when she walked back, looking shaken and uncertain. Sylvia handed her the water.
After Katia took a few sips, she closed her eyes. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“Now,” Sylvia said as she caressed Kat’s cheek, “you understand.”
